What do expect with Vestibular Rehabilitation
Upon initial visit, the therapist conducts an assessment of the vestibular system. Testing may include: gaze stability and visual system ability, sensitivity to movements, balance, and gait (walking). In order to assess if BPPV is present, specific tests are conducted. After testing, the therapist customizes treatments to meet the needs of the individual.
Treatment may include the following:
-Gaze stability exercises
-Visual therapy exercises
-Movement/Habituation exercises for motion sensitivity
-The Epley maneuver (a sequence of gentle head movements) can usually resolve Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV) immediately
