Dry Needling; also known as ‘Myofascial Trigger Point Dry Needling’ it is an effective therapy in treating muscular spasm and tension. When injury occurs from an acute trauma or repetitive use, inflammation will occur from the tissue damage. This tissue damage causes a protective tension state or contracture to guard against any further damage to occur; therefore causing cell fibrosis or scar tissue to develop. Scar tissue will limit a muscle or tissue from functioning at its full potential, which will also cause compression and irritation to nerves- such as those suffering from carpel tunnel syndrome. When performing Dry Needling a small needle is inserted into a painful knotted muscle causing a local twitch reflex, this response is therapeutic and diagnostic, decreasing muscle contraction and pain and improves tissue health and flexibility.
