Dawn, a licensed RCT with the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists, has been working with individuals and groups in the fields of community-based development, education, health and wellness, and physical rehabilitation for 25 years. Dawn currently provides individual sessions for those 14 years of age and older, couples sessions, and various group sessions – virtually and in person.
Dawn’s therapeutic work has a strong focus on performance, self concept, attachment trauma, intimate partner relationships, clinical mental health, neurodivergence, mind/body connection, grounding and self care, life transitions, power dynamics, and boundary setting. Her current interests are focused on researching and supporting women through mid life transitions.
First, and foremost, Dawn believes that building trusting relationships using regulated communication and boundary setting are the foundations of a healthy therapeutic relationship, which can then filter into everyday life. Looking at the roles that physical health and safety play on presenting concerns are as equally important and support her whole health approach. Her hope is that you have autonomy and power while feeling safe and supported.
Dawn has a passion for facilitation in group settings and working collaboratively with her clients and colleagues. She believes every person, team, and situation are unique, requiring individualized care plans. With consent, Dawn can consult with other members of your care team.
Dawn was a competitive collegiate and amateur athlete in various disciplines and is versed in the foundational physical and mental health requirements of maintaining certain levels of performance. She has personal and professional experience in supporting teams and individuals through their challenges.
Outside of counselling, you will find her facilitating strength programs, swimming, hiking, camping with her daughter, coaching, volunteering, or inventing tasty treats.
