Tai Yoga Massage

Tai Yoga Massage is a therapeutic bodywork technique that combines assisted stretching, rhythmic compression, and joint mobilization to support improved movement, mobility, and overall physical function. Traditionally, this style of treatment is performed on a mat while the client remains fully clothed, allowing for a dynamic and guided approach to working through the body.

At Coastal Sports & Wellness, Tai Yoga Massage techniques are currently offered on the treatment table within massage therapy sessions with Registered Massage Therapist Dustin McLeod. While full traditional Tai Yoga Massage is traditionally performed mat-based, Dustin integrates many Tai Yoga Massage techniques and principles into regular massage therapy treatments to help support movement, mobility, and recovery goals.

This modality blends principles from traditional Thai massage, assisted yoga postures, and manual therapy techniques. The practitioner uses their hands, thumbs, forearms, elbows, and sometimes body positioning to guide the client through a series of passive stretches and movement sequences. These movements are adapted to each individual’s comfort level, mobility, and specific needs.

Tai Yoga Massage is commonly used to address restrictions in muscles and connective tissues, support joint mobility, and improve overall movement efficiency. It can be particularly helpful for individuals experiencing stiffness, reduced range of motion, or repetitive strain patterns from sport, work, or daily activity.

Sessions are structured and flow-based, moving through different regions of the body in a coordinated sequence. The combination of compression and stretching helps increase tissue pliability and supports the body’s ability to move more freely.

Tai Yoga Massage can be used as a standalone treatment approach or integrated into a broader care plan alongside massage therapy and other rehabilitation services, depending on individual goals and needs.
